ISI 2008-15. Cheiridopsis derenbergiana Schwantes |
This is a widespread Namaqualand species that includes a number of synonyms. In any case it is a satisfying miniature with pellucid, punctate leaves and lemon-yellow to nearly charteuse flowers. It grows well in our greenhouse but is more compact outdoors in the shade-house in brighter light and better ventilation and where it survives mild frosts and winter rains. HBG 97768, second generation seedlings of J. Trager 97-29, seed collected atop gneiss hills above Omega Farm, ca. 20 km ENE of Springbok, N. Cape, S. Africa. $6.
