Edison International Makes Gift of Extensive Photo Archive to The Huntington 

 

Growth of Region Documented Through Photography and Film Collection 

In a move certain to delight California history buffs and serious scholars alike, Edison International has transferred its extensive photographic archive of the development of the region to The Huntington.

Bike-boys - Before World War I, Edison customer services included free replacement of burned-out light bulbs by the delivery boys of the Lamp Department, seen here in 1912.  This service was important in the days prior to the widespread use of the modern standard screw base light bulb.
