Learn how Henry and Arabella Huntington turned their San Marino ranch into a world famous cultural landmark! This easy walking tour will familiarize you with the cultural treasures of The Huntington: the magnificent gardens, art galleries, and library exhibitions. Your Premier Tour begins before public hours lasts approximately 90 minutes; includes general admission.
Chinese Garden Tour 流芳園
Architecture, nature, art and literature meet in Liu Fang Yuan, the Garden of Flowing Fragrance. Opened in 2008, this is the newest Huntington garden. You will be guided by specially trained docents on a 90-minute walking tour through the traditional Suzhou-style garden, featuring a 1.5-acre lake, pavilions, a canyon waterfall and hand-carved stone bridges set against a wooded backdrop of mature oaks, pines, camellias and blossoming plum trees. Celebrate the poetry, beauty and rich heritage unique to China.
Japanese Garden Centennial Tour
Tour this 100-year-old landmark after a year of painstaking renovation and expansion. Discover the history and beauty of The Huntington's Japanese Garden on this walking tour of one of the oldest and most elaborate gardens of its kind in America. Experience a rare opportunity: Beginning with a glimpse of the Chinese Garden for a chance to compare and contrast Asian garden styles, the tour visits the Japanese stroll garden, bonsai courts, Zen garden, ceremonial Tea House & garden, main house, and canyon streams under the famous Moon Bridge.
Tea & Tour
Enjoy a morning tour through the stunning Huntington gardens, followed by English tea in the Rose Garden Tea Room. The docent-led, 90-minute walking tour concludes at the Rose Garden Tea Room, where a buffet of finger sandwiches, fresh fruit, imported cheeses, salads, and desserts await. Tea includes warm scones and jam, and hot or iced tea.
Chinese Garden Tea and Tour 流芳園
The Garden of Flowing Fragrance transports you to China. Explore dramatic architecture, botanical treasures, terraces overlooking the lake, and poetry of 2,000 years of garden traditions. Your docent will escort you through the estate and introduce you to this unique 3.5 acre scholar’s garden – the newest formal garden at The Huntington. This 90-minute easy walking tour concludes at the Fresh Water Pavilion Tea Shop. Enjoy a Chinese food luncheon on the terrace beside the Lake of Reflected Fragrance. Meal includes shrimp spring roll, choice of entrée, green beans, almond cookie and bean cake for dessert, along with a steaming pot of Jasmine Tea. Your meal will be delivered to your reserved table.
Japanese Garden Tea and Tour
