Examine and learn to identify a variety of common, not-so-common, and emerging insects and diseases that might affect the oak trees in your yard in this hand-on workshop. Learn about new threats, including the Gold Spotted and Polyphagous Shot Hole Borers, mingle with professional arborists and pest control applicators to learn the best ways to avoid, treat, or repair tree damage, and become a Citizen Scientist and contribute to the regional monitoring network that will help document and perhaps prevent spread of new insect threats. $25. Learn how to prune roses like a pro in a hands-on workshop led by Tom Carruth, Curator of the Rose Collections. Students will learn about basic pruning tools and techniques, and will have a chance to practice on The Huntington’s roses. Members: $35. Non-Members: $45. Registration: 626-405-2128.
