Independent Scholar Requirements for Reading Privileges at The Huntington

Individuals with projects that advance scholarly research may apply for reading privileges by completing an application form. This form is not an online application and should not be sent electronically. Send a hard copy of the application form with two letters of reference to:

The letters should be from scholars in good standing who are familiar with the applicant's work and can attest to his or her ability to perform independent scholarly research and need for access to The Huntington's collections. Letters should be mailed with the application form. Please allow at least three weeks for the completion of the review process.

We do not currently accept applications or reference letters by fax or email.
