 The Fairchild ChallengeReasons for participating

  1. Have fun sparking your students’ concern about the environment and their community.
  2. Make connections with like-minded people.
  3. Earn funds for your classroom:  $1,200 for the top scoring school!
  4. Meet the standards with new and engaging projects.
  5. Work with teachers in other disciplines to offer cross-curricular programs.

How it Works

  1. Choose any or all of the multidisciplinary competition challenges. Challenges can be classwork, homework, required or optional assignments, or extracurricular activities. Each entry earns points for your students and your school.
  2. Submit your best work to The Huntington for final judging by an impartial panel of experts.
  3. All schools that earn a minimum number of points are awarded prizes and recognition. Students and schools with the most points at the end of the competition will receive special prizes and recognition.

 How to Participate

  1. Recruit a team of teachers who will coordinate the contest within your school.
  2. Post information and spread the word throughout the school. Rally enthusiasm with students and encourage them to help spread the word, too. The more entries, the better your chances of earning points and winning!
  3. Review the challenges and program policies.
  4. Complete a registration form.
  5. Select projects to submit to the Huntington for judging. Bring them to the Huntington with the appropriate entry form by the deadline.
  6. CELEBRATE at the Fairchild Challenge awards ceremony.
