Chinese Garden Tea and Tour

The Garden of Flowing Fragrance transports you to China. Explore dramatic architecture, botanical treasures, rockeries, bridges, lake, and poetry of 2,000 years of garden traditions. A docent will escort you through the estate and introduce you to this unique 3.5 acre scholar’s garden – the newest formal garden at The Huntington. This  90-minute easy walking tour concludes at the Fresh Water Pavilion Tea Shop. Enjoy a Chinese food luncheon on the terrace beside the Lake of Reflected Fragrance. Meal includes shrimp spring roll, choice of entrée, green beans, almond cookie and bean cake for dessert, along with a steaming pot of Jasmine Tea. Your meal will be delivered to your reserved table. Tours before public hours: Weekdays: $65 per person, Weekends: $70. For groups of four (4) or more, includes early admission, private tour, Chinese food luncheon, tax and gratuity.

 

Japanese Garden Centennial Tour

Tour this 100-year-old landmark after a year of painstaking renovation and expansion. Experience a rare opportunity! Begin the tour in the Huntington's Chinese garden, the Garden of Flowing Fragrance, to compare and contrast Chinese and Japanese garden design. Docents will help you explore lush green canyons, whispering bamboo, bonsai, a karasansui rock garden, and the new ceremonial teahouse and tea garden. Ninety-minute walking tour, moderate walking and slight elevations (no stairs). Tours during public hours: Weekdays: $25 per person, Weekends and pre-public hours: $30 per person. Includes admission.
 

Estate Tour

An easy outdoor one-hour walking tour that covers the central area of the estate including the world renowned galleries and gardens. Visitors will learn how Henry and Arabella Huntington turned their San Marino Ranch into a world famous cultural landmark. Tours during public hours: Weekdays: $22 per person, Weekends: $25 per person. Includes admission. Morning tours during pre-public hours: $30 per person. Includes admission.

 

Chinese Garden Tour

Architecture, nature, art and literature meet in Liu Fang Yuan, the Garden of Flowing Fragrance. Groups are guided by specially trained docents on a 90-minute walking tour through the traditional Suzhou-style garden, featuring a 1.5-acre lake, pavilions, a canyon waterfall and hand-carved stone bridges set against a wooded backdrop of mature oaks, pines, camellias and blossoming plum trees. Celebrate the poetry, beauty and rich heritage unique to China. Tours during public hours: Weekdays: $22 per person, Weekends: $25 per person. Includes admission. Morning tours during pre-public hours: $30 per person. Includes admission.

Tea & Tour

Enjoy a private morning tour followed by English tea in the Huntington's Rose Garden Tea Room. The docent-led walking tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and ends at the Rose Garden Tea Room, where a buffet of finger sandwiches, strawberries and cream, imported cheeses, salads, and desserts await. The English tea includes warm scones and jam, and hot or iced tea. Minimum 4 guests. Reservations required at least one month in advance.
