Traditional Chinese Floral Arranging SeriesMembers: $85. Non-Members: $95.
Join Rosa Zee, certified instructor from the Chinese Floral Art Foundation, for this three- part series that includes an opening day lecture and demonstration, followed by two days of hands-on floral arranging. Participants will learn to create two traditional, classic-style Chinese arrangements from master instructors from Taiwan. Traditional Chinese floral arranging existed 2,000 years ago and was popular among the people during the Ming dynasty. Before that, Chinese floral arranging was only practiced in the courts. Taiwan has spent the last 30 years reviving this long lost art.

Chinese Brush Painting and Calligraphy WorkshopMembers: $75. Non-Members: $95.
Join artist Peifang Liang for this two-part workshop and learn basic techniques in Chinese brush painting and calligraphy. Students will create a traditional Chinese brush painting, complete with poem and signature.

Family Evening: Musical Performance with Marc YuMembers: $12. Non-Members: $17.
Join us for an extraordinary evening with “child prodigy” Marc Yu. This 10-year-old pianist has performed at venues all over the world, such as London's Royal Albert Hall and New York City’s Carnegie Hall. As a student at the Conservatory of Music in Shanghai, China, Marc has developed his talent as a world-class performer. His repertoire ranges from Beethoven and Chopin to Mozart and Tchaikovsky. The exhibit “Treasures through Six Generations” will be opened for a special viewing prior to the performance.

Erhu Performance: Karen Hua-Qi HanMembers: $25. Non-Members: $35.
Internationally renowned erhu virtuoso Karen Hua-Qi Han presents a captivating performance on this ancient Chinese two-stringed instrument. A concert soloist performing worldwide, she has collaborated with the Paris Opera Orchestra, the New York Pops Orchestra, and the London Royal Philharmonic.

Children’s Workshop: Chinese Brush PaintingMembers: $20. Non-Members: $25.
Artist Peifang Liang introduces the traditional art of Chinese brush painting while guiding students through basic techniques. A visit to the Chinese garden as well as the exhibition offers a glimpse into the past among centuries-old works of art. Ages 7 and up with 1 accompanying adult.

A Taste of Art: China Through the Five SensesMembers: $75. Non-Members: $95.
Maite Gomez-Rejón, chef and art educator, will lead participants though the Garden of Flowing Fragrance and the exhibition “Treasures through Six Generations,” while discussing how the natural landscape has shaped and inspired Chinese art, literature, and poetry. Students will then prepare a meal that might have been enjoyed by an ancient Chinese scholar.

Children’s Workshop: Cooking up a FortuneMembers: $25. Non-Members: $30.
Art educator and chef Maite Gomez-Rejon will lead children through the “Treasures through Six Generations” exhibition and the Chinese garden to show how the natural world can inspire us. Young writers will become young chefs in the kitchen, baking fortune cookies with written inscriptions inside as they learn the true history of these delicious desserts. Ages 7 & up. Children must be accompanied by an adult (1 adult only).

Hao Sheng, curator of Chinese art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, talks about Weng Tonghe’s collecting and Weng’s experiences as revealed in his diaries and colophons (inscriptions on paintings), touching on other members of the Weng family as well.
