Information for Educators

Landscape: A piece of land with distinctive characteristics, a view of the land, or an artwork depicting the land.

Essential Questions

How can artists evoke landscape to express political, environmental, and social ideas?

How can gardeners create art by designing landscapes? How does this transform a space?

How can authors evoke landscape in their writing? How does landscape affect a written narrative?

Key Understandings

Gardeners can manipulate landscapes to create art.

Artists can incorporate landscape/place in their artwork as a way to make political, environmental, and social statements.

Writers can create a sense of place for their readers. This sense of place affects how readers experience a story.
