Botanical Encounters

Take a virtual tour of plants and flowers in The Huntington's botanical collection.

Botanical Encounters is divided into three levels.

Botanical Encounters Level 1 | K-5 Grade

What are features of different plants? Explore shapes and movement of plants, consider the effects of different environments on plant life, talk about animal interactions with plants, and learn where some of our favorite foods come from. By the end of this tour, students will have looked closely at botanical images and expressed their understanding through dialogue, drawing, and writing.

Botanical Encounters Level 2 | 6-8 Grade

What can we learn from the unique plants that grow at The Huntington? Unearth bonsai, succulents, cycads, blooms, and other exciting plants that grow at The Huntington. By the end of this tour, students will have looked closely at botanical specimens through dialogue, drawing, and writing.

Botanical Encounters Level 3 | 9-12 Grade

How can we think about plants? Consider plants as art forms, research and preservation, and environmental impact on growth patterns on plants that live at The Huntington. By the end of this tour, students will have looked closely at botanical images and articulated their thinking through dialogue, drawing, and writing.
