Story Time - The Grouchy Ladybug

Activity 1: Emo-Insects

It’s okay to feel grouchy or angry—this is a very challenging time. Draw your own ladybugs and write down something that makes you grouchy, and something that makes you happy. Here are two ladybug friends that Pam drew to get you started.

Activity 2: Best Friends Thumb Art

Thumb painting

In this book, we learned that plants and ladybugs have an important friendship—they both depend on each other for their survival. Some plants depend on the ladybugs to eat the aphids. Aphids are smaller insects that suck plant juices out of leaves and stems, which can damage the plants. Think about other plant and animal friendships. What animals depend on plants for their survival? What plants depend on animals for their survival? Place yourself in this idea of interdependence—do you depend on plants and other animals for your survival?

We’ve used markers or ink to color our fingertips and make fingerprint animal and plant relationships.
