Amanda Daflos and Randy Tan

Amanda Daflos and Randy Tan Our 53,000 Member households, whose Membership fees help pay for The Huntington’s operating expenses, are the heartbeat of the institution. Here is a look at one of our Member families and what they find special about The Huntington.

Amanda Daflos and Randy Tan have been Affiliate Members since 2020. For Amanda, who was deeply engaged in Los Angeles’ response to the pandemic, visiting the gardens reminded her that life outside her work and the pandemic still existed. “As I watched the gardens change and progress, I was reminded that time was passing and there would be an end—or at least a change—in the condition and stage of the pandemic,” Amanda says. “This was a reminder I greatly needed.” Visits to The Huntington soon took on new meaning when Amanda and her husband, Randy, brought their niece and nephews to the Children’s Garden, where there are “always beautiful surprises around each corner,” Randy says. Though Amanda and Randy recently moved away from Los Angeles, Amanda shares, “Whether I live in LA or elsewhere, I will always be a Member and an advocate of The Huntington.”
