Jason Pearl
Jason Pearl is an associate professor of English at Florida International University and a 2023–24 short-term fellow at The Huntington, studying the topic of “Aerial Vistas: The Advent of Flight and the View from Above.”
Professor Pearl specializes in British literature from the 17th to the 19th century. He’s author of Utopian Geographies and the Early English Novel and book reviews editor at the online journal Digital Defoe. Currently, he’s working on a second book about ballooning and literature in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Pearl’s research has been funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Andrew Mellon Foundation, the American Philosophical Society, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the Huntington Library, the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, and the Lewis Walpole Library.
