Claire and Brian Goldsmith

Our 50,000 Member households, whose membership fees help pay for The Huntington’s operating expenses, are the heartbeat of the institution. Here’s a look at one of our Member families and what they find special about The Huntington.

Claire and Brian Goldsmith joined in 2021 as Patron Members, after a friend encouraged them to visit. “We fell in love with The Huntington at first sight,” said Brian. “It was our first outing to a cultural site as the pandemic waned, and we’ve been gushing to friends about the magical Chinese and Japanese gardens. We felt instantly transported to China and Japan, two of our favorite places to travel.” Claire, who grew up in Boston, a city steeped in history, has a great fondness for institutions that value studying the past. She and Brian, who married in the historic Boston Public Library, both “revere research institutions for what they give us personally and what they give the world,” said Claire. They are excited to bring their two young children to explore the Children Garden’s soon.
