Botanical Lecture Series: The Joys of Planting a Garden

In this four-part lecture series held over four Wednesday evenings, you will:

  • Learn what it takes to plan out your own garden or add to your existing spaces
  • Gain an understanding in the basics of soil and plant needs
  • Find your creative voice
  • Be inspired with after-hours visits through our gardens
  • Receive individualized advice to your planning process

Registration includes all four classes and admission to The Huntington on class days. It also includes a private tour of the Spring Plant Sale, led by Shelley Sparks, on Saturday, April 27.

  • Session 1: Wed., April 3: The Basics of Plant Needs: How Do Plants Thrive?
  • Session 2: Wed., April 10: Planning for Your Plant Style: Learn What Your Style Is
  • Session 3: Wed., April 17: Plants and Beyond: Plan How to Use Your Garden
  • Session 4: Wed., April 24: Review participants’ garden plans to see the process
  • Session 5: Sat., April 27: Curated tour of the annual Spring Plant Sale (8:30 a.m.)

About the Instructor:

Shelley Sparks has been studying, practicing, and teaching Feng Shui for more than 25 years. As a landscape architect, she helps clients create the gardens of their dreams, and as a Feng Shui expert, she helps people live luckier lives. Sparks is the author of the book Secrets of the Land, Designing Harmonious Gardens with Feng Shui.
