Evening for Educators: Drawing Like Raqib Shaw (Grades 6-12)

Discover, connect, and create! Explore the art of Raqib Shaw, connect with peers, and participate in a hands-on art-making activity.
Classes

Step into the dazzling world of Raqib Shaw, a Kashmir-born, London-based artist, whose vibrant paintings highlight themes of identity, struggle, and hope. In this after-hours workshop, connect with fellow educators and learn about Raqib Shaw’s artistic process. Education staff will lead a guided viewing of Shaw’s exhibition, Ballads of East and West, in the Huntington Art Gallery using our See-Think-Do learning framework. Then, participate in a hands-on drawing activity inspired by Shaw’s unique process of photographing and tracing self-portraits –an approach you can adapt for your own classroom.
