Lectures

Greene & Greene’s Libby house (1905) was a prominent fixture on Pasadena’s “Millionaire’s Row” of Orange Grove Avenue until its demolition in the 1960s. The main staircase of the house was salvaged and later entered the collection of The Huntington. While the house was torn down, how did parts of it come to be safeguarded? How does Greene & Greene’s approach to architecture and furnishings develop during this period, and how does the presence of this architectural remnant enhance our understanding of the Greene & Greene furniture in the gallery? Join Gamble House docents for drop-in talks at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
