K-12 Educators Virtual Office Hours

Join K–12 Learning Coordinator Kristin Brisbois for monthly virtual office hours, where you can drop in to ask questions and receive support regarding The Huntington’s primary sources and their application in your classroom.

This informal virtual program offers the flexibility to join at any time and discuss:

  • Locating primary sources
  • Specific school or educator programs
  • How to troubleshoot a lesson plan idea
  • Fun activities that encourage hands-on creativity
  • Other relevant inquiries to enhance your teaching experience

For questions about this event, please contact Kristin Brisbois at kbrisbois@huntington.org.

Highlighting Huntington Curricula

Each month, Kristin Brisbois examines a different segment of The Huntington’s diverse learning resources, crafted by Huntington educators and staff for learners of all ages. These resources include interactive images, videos, hands-on activities, and more!

Plant Needs
Tue., April 9 | 3:30–4:30 p.m. | Zoom

Explore activities from Plant Needs, which shows students how to look closely and make observations and references about what plants need in order to survive.

Mindful Moments
Tue., May 7 | 3:30–4:30 p.m. | Zoom

These short guided and unguided videos promote mindfulness and well-being by focusing viewers on the calming sights and sounds of objects found at The Huntington.

Color Our Collections
Tue., June 4 | 3:30–4:30 p.m. | Zoom

Engage your students with coloring pages of objects, artworks, and plants found within The Huntington’s collections. Color a pair of falcons taken from John James Audubon’s book Birds of America or Thomas Gainsborough’s painting of a boy wearing a brilliant blue costume. Each coloring page comes with such extension activities as object histories, videos, helpful terms, and questions.

We offer themed Docent-Guided Tours that prompt students to think deeply about our collections and Self-Guided Visits that give you the opportunity to explore The Huntington on your own.

Explore objects from The Huntington’s collections. Each object includes background information and learner engagement strategies.

Participate in programming for educators, where you will get the content knowledge and confidence to teach with primary sources at The Huntington.
