Qiu Ying’s "Zhou Dunyi Admiring Lotuses"

Phillip Bloom, curator of The Huntington’s Chinese Garden, introduces an exciting new acquisition, "Zhou Dunyi Admiring Lotuses" by Qiu Ying (ca. 1494–ca. 1552).
Lectures

Now on view on the second floor of the Huntington Art Gallery, this painting perfectly captures the philosophical ideals that inspired The Huntington’s Chinese Garden. But it also poses unexpected questions about class and gender.
