Join artist Robert Sherrill for an eight-part series in watercolor sketching, inspired by The Huntington’s 130 acres of gardens.

Classes

This fun and approachable course—incorporating pen, ink, pencil, and watercolor—is great for students of all levels. Participants will learn the fundamentals of drawing and watercolor painting while exploring the unique natural and architectural elements of The Huntington, using stunning images as inspiration.

This event will be held via Zoom. The same link will be used for all eight sessions.
Classes will be recorded and available for the duration of the course.

Brushes

You may use any brush you like
Sable or imitation sable brushes: #8 round, #3 round
Instructor will be using these brushes

Watercolor Paint

Holbein is recommended.

Ultramarine Blue
Cadmium Red Medium
Cadmium Yellow
Titanium White Gouache
Prussian Blue
Magenta
Lemon Yellow
Any other colors you would like to add to this basic palette

Other

Watercolor paper, sheets, or a block (recommended: Arches Watercolor Paper Pad, 140 lb., cold press, around 9" x 12")
Watercolor palette
Paper towels and tape
Permanent pen (instructor prefers 0.5 mm, but you are welcome to use any you like, such as this one)
Water-soluble marker like this
2B pencils
