A documentary film by Wei Zhao-yi with live music composed by Chou Hsuan-hung. In this collaborative artistic creation by composer Hsuan-hung Chou and film director Zhao-yi Wei, the perspective of trees provides a new view of our environment, human activity, the rhythms of daily life, and our imprint on our surroundings. Trees endure through time and memory. Our environment and all living beings revolve around trees, forming a collective living community. Akin to daydreaming under a tree, one enters a world that is on the borderline between fantasy and reality, inspiring us to reflect upon our interaction with the world around us. The live music performance – by TaMuLa (Taiwanese Musicians in Los Angeles) and pianist Li-Cheng Hung – and film preview will be followed by a Q&A with the director and composer.

This program is a collective effort between The Huntington and its generous partners: the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, and National Kaohsiung Center of the Arts (Weiwuying). Creation research supported by National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying).
