I currently volunteer my free time with Tree People to help rehabilitate smog and fire damage areas of Los Angeles. I also volunteer my free time every year during National Public Lands Day (NPLD) to help restore recreational areas in the Angeles National Forest. I will also be enrolling next semester into the Wildfire Science B.S. program at CSUSM in hopes to be an advocate and professional of and for wildfire safety in California.

I am the founder of Caltech's creative writing club, which is putting together an anthology of science fiction and fantasy stories written by current and former members of the Caltech/JPL community. We aim to publish in the next year, and we will make copies available to the Pasadena Library so members of our city can enjoy it. We believe that in times like these, the arts are more important than ever to keep our community connected.

"As a student and student worker, I work directly with first year students to develop their self-advocacy skills and college-going mindset to get rid of the negative stigma about community college. We discuss their progress, barriers, and goals."
—Brenda Rodriguez Flores, East Los Angeles College
