Videre, Latin for to see, is a video series that plays with the idea of re-seeing. The short works featured here are explorations of sights, sounds, and sensing at The Huntington.
A simulacrum can be defined as an image, a likeness, a representation of some person or thing. “A Study in Simulacra” looks at three objects that seem to echo one another: a wood grain that meanders through its surface, a stream that wanders through a garden, and a camera that ambles across the drifting wood grain.
Shot at the Japanese House in the Japanese Garden at The Huntington, “A Study in Simulacra” showcases the stunning wood grain that is now featured prominently in the recently renovated house and garden.
