Volunteer Appreciation
The Huntington has more than 1,200 volunteers ranging in age from 14 to 90+. They help with educational activity carts that teach visitors about different gardens and cultures, assist staff during our popular plant sales, and engage with students during school visits. In addition, they welcome guests to our Mapel Orientation Gallery; pull weeds and deadhead flowers in the gardens; and serve as docents, leading tours through the gardens and answering questions in the galleries. Some of our volunteers even worked during the pandemic—observing strict safety measures—to care for our living collections.
Many of our Huntington Members, along with our Boards of Governors and Trustees, are volunteers. Many started their service with The Huntington as docents.
Volunteer Appreciation Event
At The Huntington’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Event, pins were awarded to those who reached service milestones. Eighty volunteers completed five years of service, 78 reached their 10-year anniversary, and 49 reached their 15-year anniversary. The following volunteers achieved notable service milestones:
