Landscape Fact Sheet – The Japanese Heritage Shōya House at The Huntington

Sustainable Landscape and Agriculture

  • The Japanese Heritage Shōya House shows the possibility of living sustainably with nature.

  • In Japan, farmers developed sustainable practices that improved productivity and soil quality. Huntington staff draw on that knowledge to maintain the fields in the Shōya House compound, including the process of composting and the use of cover crops.
